Shodoshima
Shodoshima is an island located in the northeastern part Kagawa prefecture. This island has a unique shape that may look like a cow or a dog.
Shodoshima is sometimes used for shooting movies because of its rich natural environment. The set used for the movie “Twenty-Four Eyes” has been opened to the public as Village of the Movie "Twenty-Four Eyes". Shodoshima has long been famous as a place which produces salt and soy sauce so there are places related to soy sauce on the island such as Yamaroku Soy Sauce, Marukin Soy Sauce Museum, and Yamahisa (Soy Sauce Company) and so on. Now it is also known as famous place for olive production.
It is convenient to have a car for getting around this area. From major cities you can get to Shodoshima by flying to Takamatsu Airport, going to Takamatsu harbor, and riding a ferry to the island. If you go this way, it takes about 3 hours from Tokyo.
